I have been "touring" rooms every Friday for a long time now on Kelly's blog, but have never taken the time to participate. I love seeing inside other people's houses. This week is master bedrooms. Last week I meant to post--it was kid's rooms. Our master bedroom is pretty TINY--not much to see, so I cheated and posted kids' rooms and our master bedroom this Friday.
Lilly's room
I obsessed so badly over these antique twin beds when I found them at the flea market that the man who sold them actually talked the lady who bought them into selling them to me. If the girls ever share a room, I'm planning on painting an "L" and an "M" in the oval that's on each footboard. I painted them pink and distressed them.
I don't know why this piece looks quite so orange in the picture. I got it in college from a designer I babysat for--the door was broken pretty badly and my dad fixed it. It's probably my favorite piece of furniture in our whole house.
Mamie's room
I know I need something over the bed. One of these days I will get around to painting something to go there. My dad and I made the headboard when Jon and I got married and I recovered it for Mamie's big girl room.
The sideboard was her changing table. I have to hang onto it for baby # 3 one of these days... I bought it at a junk store when I was pregnant with Lilly and fixed it up and painted it.
Same story with the chest of drawers. I bought it for $47 and my dad spent forever rebuilding the inside of it--the drawer guides were all broken. (If you ask him, it probably wasn't a great deal :)

LOVE every bit of it, If I had girls thatis how I would decorate the room, simple but elegant.
Love your master too :)
Excellent, excellent... loved it all! You're a great decorator!
Lyla,
Everything is beautiful and perfect. I can see why how you are a designer. I would love to know how you distress your furniture. I have two pieces right now that I would love to paint and distress but I just don't know how to get started. I have tried to do other things before without success. I have an old desk/sewing maching (it's an old singer built in) that my grandmom gave me and it's a great piece of furniture, but needs sanded, painted and refinished. I haven't gotten the distressed part down and would love for you to do a step by step on your blog, if you have time.
Love all the window treatments, pillows and LOVE Lilly's beds.
I love everything you have done (and your dad)! It all looks great!
OOOHHHH! I love, love, love all the rooms! You are so good!! Obviously, I need lots of help at my place so hop on over! :) I love Lilly's bed and all the distressed furniture! And, I've said this before, but I love your lighting, especially in your room!
Ok, I'm totally blog stalking! But that's the point of the home tours, right? :) I LOVE your rooms! Everything has such style but looks completely homey and comfortable!
Found you from Kelly. :) Love, love, LOVE every bit of it! Beautiful home!
I just LOVE your house, Lyla. You have done a fantastic job with every single aspect of it. You are very, very talented!!! My fav is that blueish armoire in your bedroom and the girls' beds. So pretty. I am sure your dad loves helping his little girl - I can see Toby doing that endlessly for Abby someday...even if it isn't a great deal.
i know i've told you before, but i love love love your house! if we ever move (fingers crossed that it's not too far off) you HAVE to help me out!
Hey Lyla:
Julie Tanner told me about your work and it is awesome! I am wanting to have some of my grandmother's furniture refinished. I am not sure how busy you are; but if you would be interested, please call me. My # is 615-476-6080 and my name is Dawn Alldredge.
Thanks in Advance!
